STATELINE, Nev. (KRNV) — South Lake Tahoe's newest attraction, Wolf By Vanderpump, is officially open for business. Owner of the new restaurant and reality TV star Lisa Vanderpump was in town Thursday for a grand opening of the spot.
"We thought we could do something really wonderful here. It took a minute, but we got it done," Vanderpump said.
Wolf By Vanderpump was a collaboration between Vanderpump, interior designer Nick Alain and Caesars Entertainment. Vanderpump and Alain have collaborated on a number of other restaurants in the past, but this is the first one they have opened in an area that is not a major metropolitan city like Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
"We came to Tahoe and we're glad we did because it pushed us. It pushed us outside of our comfort zone, and we're really happy with it," Alain said.
The "cabin chic" restaurant and cocktail lounge is located inside of Harveys Lake Tahoe Hotel and Casino, right nextdoor to Hell's Kitchen, another celebrity owned restaurant. According to Chief Operations Officer at Caesars Entertainment Anthony Carano, this likely won't be the last high-profile attraction in the area.
"We have some plans here for Caesars Entertainment. This is chapter one of an exciting story that we're going to tell here in Lake Tahoe," Carano said.
There have been mixed reviews among locals on these types of businesses coming to the area. While some residents have expressed opposition to bigger corporate entities taking over the smaller businesses there, others say it is an exciting opportunity.
"Stateline really hasn't changed a lot in two or three decades. It needs an infusion of sexy, of a little glamor, of a little celebrity to make it a destination place, not just for the people who always go to gamble or the diehard skiers, but for people who are looking for a great place to enjoy the beauty of the lake and all this area has to offer," former Reno resident Wendy Burch said.
