"And Just Like.." killed Carrie’s dignity and self-respect, Miranda reunites with ex Steve

Spoilers ahead!
The “Sex and the City” version of Carrie Bradshaw we grew up loving as a single, empowering 30-something NYC column writer is gone in the spinoff series, “And Just Like That” To replace her is a version of Carrie who is unfazed by Aiden cheating with his ex-wife, Kathy, and now she sleeps around on the first "date." Who is this 50-something woman that the show writers want us to accept in season 3?
At this point, we are slowly realizing the character we loved in the '90s has very little dignity and common sense left, and we are silently mourning. In episode 10 titled “Better Than Sex,” Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) gives Duncan (Jonathan Cake) a chance after finally breaking up with Aiden (and might we add we all rejoiced after that split).

Sadly, the high of seeing Carrie leave Aiden (and his insecurities) in the rear-view mirror was short-lived, and we are disappointed once again in Carrie’s choices at her big age. After accepting the invitation to join Duncan at a publishing event, Carrie pulls out her best gown to turn heads at the party. Instead of taking it slow after the outing, she jumped right into bed with Duncan, who made it clear he is unavailable in more ways than the fact that he’s moving back to London soon. It's unclear if there's still anything between Duncan and his ex-wife, Imogen, who doubles as his publisher. But is there a future for Carrie and Duncan after their one-night stand?
“Duncan respects my thoughts,” Carrie said while discussing with Charlotte her mixed feelings about pursuing a relationship with her downstairs neighbor. While we all admit we are “hate watching,” we have second-hand embarrassment watching these story arcs play out.
Still, Carrie is back to accepting crumbs from another middle-aged manchild, and we wish the unapologetically badass Carrie we knew would show up with some self-respect. After all, she is THE CARRIE BRADSHAW. Besides her runway-worthy fashion, Carrie is unrecognizable, and it’s depressing to watch her go out like this.
Meanwhile, Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) has a visitor from her past. Her ex-husband Steve, who she divorced before coming out as a lesbian, showed up at her doorstep. But Steve and Miranda aren’t rekindling their romance. Instead, they are having dinner with their son Brady, who dropped bombshell baby news on them. Miranda and Steve are going to be grandparents, which sends Miranda on a witch hunt to find her son’s soon-to-be baby mama, Mia, played by Ella Stiller. (Fun fact: she's actor Ben Stiller's daughter in real life.) So far, Miranda's proving to be a future mother-in-law from hell with her antics.
Of course, no one beats Giuseppe’s mom, Gia, as the most overbearing mother this season (or Adam’s late mother reincarnated as a plant). Still a very woo-woo choice by the show’s writers if you ask us.
The only glimmer of hope this season is Seema’s storyline, which is grossly overshadowed by the downfall of Carrie’s character. Could Seema (Sarita Choudhury) and Adam, the hot gardener, have a serious relationship to root for? Still too soon to tell. Adam’s pop-up visit to her real estate office could be either a huge red flag or a sign of a budding romance. Either way, we are so close to giving up on Seema finding love this season, just like Adam gave up on deodorant.
Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker) couldn’t be more detached from her marriage as Herbert spirals over a political race while she works overtime. Charlotte (Kirsten Davis) and Harry (Evan Handler) are fighting for their lives together as they both tackle their separate medical diagnoses. If Charlotte’s vertigo is a precursor to more serious health issues ahead, we’ll never forgive the writers for ruining the show we loved.
With only two more episodes until the season 3 finale, we’d like to see some happy news for our favorite ladies living in the Big Apple. Also, more therapy because everyone seems to have mommy issues.
“And Just Like That” airs Thursdays on HBO Max.
