NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) - FOX 17 News is keeping a close eye on the weather with a Code Red alert in place through Tuesday morning due to dangerously cold air and icy conditions.
Cold Weather Advisories are active until 6:00 p.m. today, after which Extreme Cold Warnings will take over until Tuesday at noon. Wind chill values could plummet to 10 degrees below zero.
Middle Tennessee experienced a significant freezing rain event on Sunday, resulting in over 200,000 power outages in Davidson County. Fallen trees are reported across the region.
Temperatures are expected to stay below freezing today, limiting any melting. However, Tuesday promises sunshine and highs in the mid-30s, which should help with melting.
