Food Network star Anne Burrell passed away in her Brooklyn home on Tuesday.

Known for her trademark spikey platinum blond hair, Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend –her smile lit up every room she entered. Anne’s light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal,’ her family says in a statement obtained by PEOPLE.

Anne was first seen on the Food Network as a sous chef on ‘Iron Chef America’ and worked her way up as a fan-favorite for the network as the host of ‘Worst Cooks in America.’ She became a Food Network staple, appearing on ‘Chef Wanted,’ ‘Chopped,’ ‘Food Network Star,’ and most recently, ‘House of Knives.’

Anne is survived by her husband, Stuart Claxton, and his son Javier, as well as her mother Marlene, her sister Jane, and children Isabella, Amelia, and Nicolas.

No word on how Burrell passed away. She was 55.
