Ben Affleck and Matt Damon team up for crime thriller 'The Rip'
The boys from Boston are back, but this time they’re headed to Miami!
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon star together in “The Rip,” a new crime thriller based on true events.
“Upon discovering millions in cash in a derelict stash house, trust among a team of Miami cops begins to fray. As outside forces learn about the size of the seizure, everything is called into question — including who they can rely on,” the official synopsis reads.
In the trailer, Damon’s character observes, “From the outside looking in, it seems simple. Seize the cash, count it, and turn it in.”
“On the inside, it’s different,” he adds as the team discovers the $20 million “rip” inside the house.
That amount of money proves impossible to resist, and the team goes rogue to try to smuggle it away without getting caught. But tensions and paranoia escalate as trust dissolves between the former friends and colleagues.
“You wanna steal this rip? Just say it out loud!” Affleck’s character yells at Damon.
Later in the trailer, Damon ominously asks another character, “You a snitch?” while calmly pointing a gun at him.
The film also stars Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle, Catalina Sandino Moreno & Kyle Chandler, and is directed by Joe Carnahan.
Affleck and Damon are also producers on the film through their production company, Artists Equity.
“The Rip” arrives on Netflix January 16.
