Brad Pitt breaks silence on Angelina divorce settlement

Brad Pitt speaks out for the first time since finalizing his divorce from Angelina Jolie over 8 years after the ‘Maria’ star filed to end their two-year marriage. While promoting his new film ‘F1’ in an interview with GQ, Pitt responds to questions about reaching a settlement in his divorce battle just weeks after he wrapped filming racing scenes in Abu Dhabi.

When asked if the actor felt “relief” to have the legal battle behind him, he quickly shut the idea down, saying, “No, I don’t think it was that major of a thing. Just something coming to fruition. Legally.”
Jolie, 49, initially filed for a dissolution of marriage in September 2016, days after she alleges Pitt was physically abusive on a private flight toward her and one of their children, but no action against Pitt was taken. When they signed off on their divorce in December 2024, the pair cited irreconcilable differences. The ‘Mr and Mrs. Smith’ actors who share six kids -- Maddox,23, Pax,21, Zahara,20, Shiloh,19, Knox, 16, and Vivienne,16 – tied the knot in August 2014 and were declared legally single by a judge in 2019, according to People.

Pitt, 61, has since moved on and is now dating businesswoman Ines de Ramon, 32, since 2022. The couple made their first public appearance attending a Formula 1 race, causing many to speculate whether the relationship debut was planned.
“No, dude, it’s not that calculated,” Pitt laughed. “If you’re living, oh my God, how exhausting would that be? If you’re living with making those kinds of calculations? No, life just evolves. Relationships evolve.”
After years in the spotlight and the recent legal back-and-forth, Pitt was asked by GQ if filming F1 was a break from the attention. “I don’t see it that way,” Pitt said. “It’s been an annoyance I’ve had to always deal with in different degrees, large and small, as I do the things I really want to do. So, it’s always been this kind of nagging time suck or waste of time, if you let it be that...Mostly I feel pretty. My life is fairly contained. It feels pretty warm and secure with my friends, with my loves, with my fam, with my knowledge of who I am, that, you know, it’s like this fly buzzing around a little bit.”
F1 races into theaters June 27.
