Brian Wilson’s family announces the death of the Beach Boys star
It’s a sad day in music as one of the most prolific artists, writers and well-known musicians in American music has passed away. Brian Wilson, helped to define a generation with his band The Beach Boys.
Wilson was the genius behind the group’s music. He wrote and co-lead the band’s vocals as well as playing the guitar and keyboards alongside his two brothers Dennis and Carl, cousin Mike Love and friend Al Jardine.
The group turned out hit after hit including Surfing Safari, Good Vibrations, God Only Knows, Surfin’ USA, Help Me Rhonda and a slew of other memorable songs.
The singer’s family announced his passing on social media on Wednesday, June 11 with a photo of Brian sitting and smiling on a park bench.
“We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away.” The post continues, “We are at a loss for words right now. Please respect our privacy at this time as our family is grieving. We realize that we are haring our grief with the world. Love & Mercy.”
Brian Wilson is survived by his seven children and wife, Melinda Kae Ledbetter.
