Country singer Toby Keith died at the age of 62 on Monday after a battle with stomach cancer.

He "passed peacefully" on Monday night, his official X account said in a statement on Tuesday.

“Toby Keith passed peacefully last night on February 5th, surrounded by his family. He fought his fight with grace and courage. Please respect the privacy of his family at this time,” a statement posted to Keith’s website and social media said.

Keith was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2022.

In June 2023 he said he hoped to be on the road again soon and was "feeling good."

Keith was also a longtime supporter of families facing cancer diagnoses and created the Toby Keith Foundation back in 2006 to support pediatric patients.

Among his No. 1 Billboard hits were "How Do You Like Me Now?!,” “Should’ve Been a Cowboy,” “As Good As I Once Was,” “My List” and “Beer for My Horses."

Keith performed at Carolina Country Music Fest in 2018.

In December he played three sold-out shows in Las Vegas Dolby Live at Park MGM.

"The concert also featured some of his 32 No. 1s and 42 top 10 hits that have helped propelled him to have more than 100 million BMI performances and more than 10 billion streams overall," a release said.

He released his "100% Songwriter" album in November highlighting 13 of his most iconic solo-written songs.
