Tony Hawk is a legend as an athlete and skateboarder but didn’t always plan on achieving that status.

He told our Courtney Tezeno at the Kids’ Choice Awards orange carpet he doesn’t have any specific plans, but “just take it as it comes.”

“I don’t have any great aspirations these days. Everything I do now is kind of a side mission. And they’re always fun. I never expected any of this anyway, so it’s all a nice surprise,” he said.

As for how he wants to be remembered, Hawk said, “Hopefully as someone who raised the profile of skateboarding as best I could and provided more places to do it.”

Hawk is continuing to help spread the joy of skateboarding to the next generation. At last night’s Kids’ Choice Awards, he did a set of tricks and stunts with up-and-coming skater Katelyn West.

The 57-year-old is also releasing new versions of his hit video games “Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3+4,” promising “a bunch of new skaters, all the legendary iconic parts from those games and some new parts” plus a new pinball level.
