BURRILLVILLE, R.I. (WJAR) — The house that was made famous in the movie, "The Conjuring," has been sold again –just three years after the last time, and for nearly four times as much.

Boston developer Jacqueline Nunez said she was drawn in when she saw the listing for the house, which is located in Burrillville, Rhode Island, and known for what some former residents and current investigators say is paranormal activity.

"As a kid growing up, my family, we loved horror movies,” said Nunez, as she was standing outside the weathered clapboard 1736 house.

“We just watched them all the time,” she added. “So, of course, you know, I loved 'The Conjuring' movie. I'm also a deeply spiritual person. This house provides an opportunity for us to communicate with people that have passed."

Ed and Lorraine Warren's investigation into what was happening in the house was the basis for the 2013 movie.

Andrea Perron wrote a trilogy of books she said tells the decades-long tale of her family's experiences living there for a decade, in, "House of Darkness, House of Light."

"It's magical,” Perron said during a previous interview. “It's a portal, cleverly disguised as a farmhouse. It's multiple dimensions interacting simultaneously.”

For the past three years, Cory Heinzen, who bought the house and property for a little more than $400,000, has been renting it out nightly to people who want to see, hear and feel for themselves.

In a separate interview, Heinzen said there were “doors opening and closing on their own — footsteps, knocking, disembodied voices. Last night, we had a black mist in one of the rooms. It looks like smoke. It'll gather in one area and then it'll move."

Nunez said she is aware of the history of the house.

"I'm sure that there will be things that will startle me," she said.

After crunching the numbers, Nunez said buying the estate for $1.5 million is doable.

"I want to be as historically accurate as I can,” she said. “There will be no faking anything here. I'll be spending 2022 learning the business and then planning how to expand the business to afford more paranormal engagement.”

One of the conditions of the sale is the new owners won't live in the house full-time, as a caution, to “make sure that we take protections, that we are not inundated and overwhelmed with the energy here, whether good or bad,” said Nunez.

She lost a brother a few years back. She said she has made contact through a medium and believes there's more beyond our current human experience.

"I believe in reincarnation, and that we come back and that we have things to learn in any given lifetime,” she said. “I've never looked at this in a scary kind of way. It's certainly a great opportunity to explore and learn from the activity and energy that's going on here.”
