Hugh Jackman recalls his 'uh-oh' moment peeing his pants on stage
Hugh Jackman is a singing and dancing professional, but he had a little accident early in his career.
The “Song Sung Blue” star appeared on “The Howard Stern Show” this week and recalled the time he ended up peeing his pants on stage during a production of “Beauty and the Beast.”
Jackman said he went to a naturopath to deal with some persistent headaches and was advised to drink more water because he was dehydrated.
"So that first day I drank two gallons because I'm like - and you're nuts. You can see what's happening,” he joked.
During his first song in the show he had to carry the actress playing Belle around and he admitted, “a little bit of p--s came out. I’m wearing red tights. I thought, ‘uh-oh.’”
Jackman stopped singing for part of the song to try to not cause a further mess, but he was stuck with a difficult decision.
“I had a choice: You sing that F. I either sing it and p--s my pants or I don't sing it and humiliate myself. So, I sang it. And [the urination] was just going,” he said.
To hide the incident, after he finished the song, he “immediately, instead of taking my bow, I turned upstage. I just jumped around, and I looked down and there was nothing."
Jackman thought he’d gotten away with it, recalling, “I'm laughing to myself thinking my boot is filled with p--s, both boots filled with p--s. And somehow I'm on stage, 1500 people, ‘Well, I'm getting away with this.’”
However, his dresser for the show knew exactly what had happened.
“She's looking at my crotch. And I look down as I walk off and it's completely wet. So in that three minutes after the song, it had seeped through.”
Jackman added, “Nothing can embarrass you after that.”
