NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Country music star Zach Bryan is speaking out after he was arrested Thursday in Vinita, Oklahoma.
According to TMZ, the singer-songwriter is facing an obstruction of investigation charge. Further information on his arrest was not provided.
Bryan is scheduled to headline at Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival in Franklin, Tennessee, later this month.
He took to X, formerly known as Twitter, on Thursday night apologizing for the incident.
"Emotions got the best of me and I was out of line in the things I said," he said. "I support law enforcement as much as anyone can, I was just frustrated in the moment, it was unlike me and I apologize. They brought me to jail, and there is a mug shot of me floating around. Prayers we can all move on from this and prayers people know I’m just trying the best I can, I love you guys and I am truly sorry to the officers."
He then released an almost 5-minute video on X, explaining the arrest further.
"I was an idiot today, and my decisions do not reflect who I am as a person," Bryan said.
Bryan said he was driving in Oklahoma when he was pulled over by an officer who asked for his license, registration and address. Bryan said he then told the officer he did not feel comfortable giving him his address because he is a musician. He added the officer then said he would need to arrest him if he did not do so.
The officer then put the country singer in handcuffs, and Bryan said he eventually gave up his address. After listening to the officer, he was let go and got back on the road.
Bryan said in the video the following day, he and his security guard were driving to Boston when his guard was pulled over. Bryan then pulled over himself. After about 10 to 15 minutes, Bryan said he got out of his vehicle to smoke a cigarette and the officer told him to get back inside his vehicle or he would be taken to jail.
Bryan said he then responded, "Take me to f***ing jail, what do you mean?" Bryan then said the situation escalated, and he was brought to the officer's vehicle.
I just didn't help my situation at all," he said. "I felt like a child. It was ridiculous, it was immature and I just pray everyone knows I don't think I'm above the law. I was just being disrespectful and I shouldn't have been, and it was my mistake."
He said he was then placed in handcuffs which continued to make him angry. He said he continued to act like a child and said things to the officer such as "This is so wrong" and "Why are you using your authority like this?"
The officer then told Bryan he was going to talk to him and did not want to be interrupted. Bryan then interrupted the officer, and he was then taken to jail.
