Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez tied the knot in a wedding fit for a billionaire. Lauren confirmed the news with a subtle change to her Instagram handle, that now reads 'Lauren Sanchez Bezos.'
The Amazon CEO and the former TV journalist married Friday evening in Venice, Italy in an over-the-top-affair.
The guest list is star studded with Oprah Winfrey, Leonardo DiCaprio, Sydney Sweeney, Gayle King, Orlando Bloom, Usher, and Tom Brady all spotted there for the nuptials.
Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner and mom Kris also all arrived in Italy earlier in the week.
A rumored price tag for the Venice based nuptials is around $14 million, according to Yahoo! Entertainment, though other reports have indicated that the event had been scaled back.
Residents of the city protested the couple’s wedding, citing concerns over the impact on a city already struggling with mass tourism, according to Fox News.
In a statement, the mayor of Venice said that 200 guests were expected at the ceremony and stressed that the city was prepared to handle the lavish event.
Bezos and Sanchez’s relationship was first made public in January 2019, just after he had announced his divorce from his wife of 25 years, Mackenzie Scott. Sanchez was also divorcing her husband of 13 years, Patrick Whitesell, around the same time.
The official timeline leading to their meeting and decision to become a couple isn’t exact, but People Magazine reported that they had a working relationship over several projects and “gradually” fell for each other.
“Anyone who knows Jeff and Lauren socially, professionally or through their charity ventures understands why they are together. They are a team,” an anonymous source told Yahoo! Entertainment. “She’s smart, adventurous and fun. She keeps him on his toes. Lauren really is the yin to his yang.”
They became engaged in May 2023, with Sanchez sporting a 30 carat diamond ring worth a reported three to five million, per W Magazine.
