Jeff Bezos’ lavish Italian wedding to Lauren Sanchez was the talk of the town. After witnessing the multi-day extravaganza from afar, stars in showbiz are speaking out about the summer’s biggest wedding thus far.
The couple reportedly spent over $50 million to exchange vows in Venice, Italy, and hosted three days of over-the-top events for their guests on San Maggiore Island. A-list attendees included Tom Brady, Oprah Winfrey, Leonardo DiCaprio, Orlando Bloom, and Kim Kardashian, but some celebrities were excluded from the guest list.
Whether it was FOMO (fear of missing out), disliking the extravagance, or hating, here are the stars who had some choice words about the billionaire Amazon CEO’s wedding:
Megyn Kelly
Media personality and political commentator, Megyn Kelly, known for not holding back her opinion, pointed out that the founder looked like “a walking penis” on his wedding day. In her defense, her comment came after guest Maureen Callahan, a columnist for ‘Daily Mail,’ stated Bezos “resembles a walking penis” during an episode of Kelly’s SiriusXM show.
After comparing older pics of Bezos versus his wedding look, Kelly added, “I venture to say some other things happened there to make him look like that, but you’re right,” she said. “He does look a little too taut and it does give penis vibes. I’m not gonna lie, it’s not a good look for him.”
She made a point to call out the hefty costs and mock Bezos and his wife for inviting A-listers to their special day.
“You’re literally one of the richest men in the world, so you’d make sure that you only invite the people who love you for you, you know, the people who were there before you built Amazonwhat matters to them is that it’s a star-studded event, not that they have dear friends who love them, standing up for them, when they take a sacred vow.”
Charlize Theron
“I think we might be the only people who did not get an invite to the Bezos wedding. But that’s OK because they suck and we’re cool,” the actress, 49, joked on stage at the Block Party charity event which supports her Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project.
Her comments created a firestorm on X, with some calling Theron “jealous,” “bitter,” and “salty she didn’t get an invite,” while many others agreed with her.
Olivia Munn
Olivia Munn took a seemingly veiled dig at Bezos' nuptials to his journalist bride, Sanchez. After Mia Farrow posted on Instagram praising the Amazon founder’s ex-wife, MacKenzie Scott, whom he shares 4 children with, for her philanthropic efforts.
“As of mid-December 2024, she had given a total of $19.3 billion to over 1600 charitable organizations,” Farrow said about Bezos' ex.
Munn commented under the post, writing: “Truly incredible.”
Katie Couric
Journalist Katie Couric is playing fashion police, and she’s not giving Sanchez’s wedding gown rave reviews. The 68-year-old criticized her Vogue cover where the bride is wearing a lace, long-sleeved Dolce & Gabbana gown.
“Apparently tacky is back," Couric wrote.
“Welcome to the eighties—when big hair and conspicuous consumption ruled,” the famed journalist wrote in an Instagram comment under a now-deleted post shared by Jack Schlossberg, according to TMZ.
