Kate Gosselin admits 'ugly divorce' from Jon Gosselin 'did not turn out well' for the kids
“Jon & Kate Plus 8” star Kate Gosselin is opening up on the effect her divorce from Jon Gosselin had on their family.
In a TikTok Live session on Wednesday, Kate answered questions from viewers.
One person asked her how to get through a divorce, and she answered honestly.
"I don't know if you have kids or don't have kids, but I just, I made decisions based on how I would want to be treated, honestly," she said, per People. "And I didn't buy into all the drama and the hate, and the ugly. And I had kids involved, so I wanted it to be as peaceful for them as I possibly could."
She continued, "I did not hire an attorney that wanted to stir up trouble; I just wanted it to be peaceful, and I wanted the best for my kids. A lot of things happened that I could not control that did not turn out well for my kids, but I did my best. We just got through it to the best of our ability."
“It could've been a lot calmer and a lot nicer if everybody was willing to play nice,” Kate added.
Kate and Jon Gosselin divorced in 2009, with reports of infidelity on Jon’s part.
The couple rose to fame on their TLC reality show, “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” featuring them parenting twins Mady and Cara and sextuplets Hannah, Leah, Alexis, Joel, Aaden, and Collin.
Her TikTok Live came shortly after Collin appeared to allege that he and his siblings were “forced apart” and “pitted against each other” in his own post on social media, per People Magazine.
