Lance Bass tells us whether or not *NSYNC is heading for Sphere in Las Vegas
The Backstreet Boys have already been crushing it at Sphere in Las Vegas the past year (with more shows to come), so could *NSYNC follow in their footsteps?
“I mean, who knows?” Lance Bass told us at 24th Annual Christmas at The Grove Tree Lighting Celebration Presented by FOX 11. “No, we haven't spoken about anything, but I think it's every artist's dream at this point to do Sphere.”
He continued, “It is just a magical experience. I'm going back to see the Boys at the end of December. I'm actually gonna go see them again in March, because you have to see it about three times to be able to take it all in.”
Lance hosted the festive evening at The Grove in Los Angeles, which featured performances by Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter, plus Dasha, Natalie Jane, Loud Luxury, Kevin Woo, Nicolas Petricca of Walk The Moon, Liamani and Straight No Chaser.
“I mean, The Grove is now our annual tradition,” Lance said. The singer was hosting for the second year in a row, and it’s his family’s third year overall coming to the festivities.
“This is their third time coming here,” Lance said, referring to his twins, Alexander James and Violet Betty, with his husband Michael Turchin. “The very first year we did this with them, it was the first time we brought them out in public. You know, covid had just kind of ended, so we're like, okay, and now it's just kind of our annual thing, and the fact that they've asked me to host this just really adds to the tradition.”
He continued, “It really just gets you in the Christmas mood. I like to celebrate a little early. I'm one of those guys, and I'm glad that we get to do something like this even before Thanksgiving, because, you know, the Christmas season last a lot longer.
“Yes, the decorations were up literally two days after Halloween,” he added with a laugh.
Lance noted that it was a boy band heavy evening between himself, Nick Carter, and Kevin Woo, the singing voice of Mystery Saja from “KPop Demon Hunters,” calling the show “a poptacular Christmas.”
The event had Lance looking back on *NSYNC’s Christmas album, “Home for Christmas” and it’s festive classic, “Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays.”
“You know, my Christmas album is probably my favorite album I've ever done, and we did it so early in our career, so it's been living with us for so long,” he said. “And I can't believe ‘Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays' became a hit because when I first heard it, I'm like, Are you sure this is good?’ But somehow it [has] stayed around.
And of course, *NSYNC has listened to the Backstreet Boys Christmas album, “A Very Backstreet Christmas,” calling it “incredible.”
