The "Friends" actor's death is being investigated by local and federal authorities.

Los Angeles police said in an email provided to The National Desk (TND)Tuesday that the police department, with the assistance of the Drug Enforcement Administration and the United States Postal Inspection Service, is continuing its probe into the circumstances of Perry’s death following the ME's findings. The investigation was first reported by TMZ.

Matthew Perry was found dead in a pool at his Los Angeles home on October 28, 2023.

An autopsy showed that the 54-year-old star died from acute effects of ketamine, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.

Other contributing factors in Perry's death were drowning, coronary artery disease and the effects of buprenorphine, which is used to treat opioid use disorder.

According to Perry's autopsy obtained by TND, people close to the actor told investigators that he was undergoing ketamine infusion therapy, an experimental treatment used to treat depression and anxiety. But the medical examiner said that his last treatment 1 1/2 weeks earlier wouldn't explain the levels of ketamine in Perry’s blood. The drug is typically metabolized in a matter of hours.

The report pointed out that that the amount ofketamine in Perry's blood was in the range used for general anesthesia during surgery.

LAPD didn't disclose what specifically investigators were looking for in its statement to TND.

TMZ reported that sources told them that authorities have interviewed several key individuals in Hollywood.

No arrests connected to the investigation have been reported.
