Last call: Titles leaving Netflix in November 2021

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — I have a general policy of not looking at November or December prior to the completion of Halloween. While some are quick to rush into the year-ending holidays, I like to cherish October and all its wonderful shades of color as long as I can. Nevertheless, here's a quick look at what's leaving Netflix in November.

A Single Man

Tom Ford's directorial debut proved that the fashion designer's talent extended beyond the runway. "A Single Man" stars Colin Firth as George, a British university professor living in California. George recently lost his long-time companion in a tragic accident and his lust for life has completely diminished. Julianne Moore stars as George's friend Charley, a woman who would like nothing more than to steal all his attention. However, it is Kenny (Nicholas Hoult), one of his students, that captures his imagination. (Leaving 11/10/21)

Fruitvale Station

Before they worked together on "Black Panther" and "Creed," director Ryan Coogler and actor Michael B. Jordan teamed to make "Fruitvale Station," a film that chronicles a day in the life of Oscar Grant, a 22-year-old man intent on making positive changes in his life. (Leaving 11/11/21)

The Lincoln Lawyer

In 2011, Mathew McConaughey was still thought of as an actor who was best suited for romantic comedies. With "The Lincoln Lawyer" McConaughey took his career in a different direction. There's a grittiness to this court drama that sees a Mick Haller (McConaughey), a lawyer who works out of his Lincoln taking on a rape case where the evidence suggests that his client (Ryan Phillippe), a wealthy realtor, is guilty of the crime. Clear and Present Danger

Released in 1994, "Clear and Present Danger" was the second film to star Harrison Ford as Jack Ryan following 1992's "Patriot Games." The plot, which sees Ryan investigating a covert program in Columbia. It's formulaic, to be sure, but I love Harrison as Ryan and wish there had been more films from him and director Phillip Noyce. Pineapple Express

"Pineapple Express" was one of the first films that I reviewed when I transitioned from music to film journalism. Directed by David Gordon Green("Halloween Kills") and starring Seth Rogen and James Franco, the film that mixes some thrilling action sequences in with a bit of a slacker comedy thrown in as Dale (Rogen) and his drug dealing friend Saul (Franco) find themselves in the middle of a war between two drug gangs.
