A preliminary autopsy report shared by the prosecutor's office in Argentina revealed Liam Payne's cause of death stating the singer died from "multiple traumas" and "internal and external hemorrhaging" after fallingfrom a third-floor hotel balcony Wednesday.

The report obtained by the BBC details the former One Direction star suffered 25 injuries as a result of his fall from the Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires adding he may have been fully or partially conscious when he fell.

It was noted there were no signs of a fight and that the 31-year-old was alone in his room at the time of his death.

Additional exams were requested including histopathological, biochemical and toxicological.

Pablo Policicchio, the spokesman for the Security Ministry of Buenos Aires, told The Associated Press Payne "had thrown himself from the balcony of his room."

Policicchio added police responded to the hotel shortly after 5 p.m. local time for an emergency call about an "aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol."

Medics arrived within minutes and Payne was pronounced dead.

Two photos immediately started circulating on social media, with media outlets claiming the images were from the scene.

One of the photos appeared to show a white powdery substance, as well as tin foil, a melted tea light candle, a lighter, and an empty soap box. The second photo shows what looked like a TV with a smashed screen.

Alberto Crescenti, the director of emergency services in Buenos Aires, declined to answer questions aboutwhether Payne jumped from the balcony or fell by accident.

In 2023, Payne opened up about his substance abuse issues on YouTube and shared he has been sober for six months after spending time in a rehab facility.

"I became somebody I didn't recognize anymore," he said at the time.

One Direction exploded onto the music scene in 2010, with Payne and Horan teaming with Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik, to create what is known as one of the most successful boy bands of all time.

The English-Irish pop group formed and quickly rose to fame with the help of Simon Cowell after they appeared individually on "The X Factor," a British TV singing competition.

The former band members said they were "completely devastated" in a joint statement on social media.

"We're completely devastated by the news of Liam's passing. In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly," the band wrote. "The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever."

Payne's family issued a statement Thursday saying they were "heartbroken."

"We are heartbroken. Liam will forever live in our hearts and we'll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul," Payne's loved ones said, according to BBC. "We are supporting each other the best we can as a family and ask for privacy and space at this awful time."
