'Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette' series releases first trailer
The lives, love, and tragedy of John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette fascinated the nation, and now their story is being revisited in a new anthology series.
“Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette” is the first installment in the series, produced by Ryan Murphy.
The show, inspired by the book “Once Upon a Time: The Captivating Life of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy” by Elizabeth Beller, follows the couple’s relationship, beginning with their chance meeting at a party.
The two share a spark almost instantly, but the pressures of being in the spotlight with a Kennedy soon put a strain on their love.
“There’s your world and then there’s mine,” Carolyn says in the trailer.
According to the official synopsis, “It was a love story that captured the attention of the nation: John F. Kennedy Jr. (Paul Anthony Kelly) was the closest thing to American royalty. The country watched him grow from a boy to a beloved bachelor and media sensation. Carolyn Bessette (Sarah Pidgeon) was a star in her own right. Fiercely independent and with a singular style, she rose from being a sales assistant to an executive at Calvin Klein and became a trusted confidante of its eponymous founder.”
It continues, “John and Carolyn’s connection was immediate, electric and undeniable. As their love story unfolded on a national stage, the intense fame and media attention that came along with it threatened to rip them apart.”
In the trailer, we see JFK Jr. consult with his famous mother, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis (Naomi Watts), who tells her son, “There isn’t enough exposure in the world to prepare a woman to be your wife.”
“It’s not a question if I want to spend the rest of my life with you. It’s a question of if I’m cut out to be Mrs. JFK Jr.,” Carolyn says near the end of the trailer.
“Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette” premieres February 12 on FX.
