Macaulay Culkin’s sons still don’t realize he plays the main role in 'Home Alone'
It’s hard to believe that “Home Alone” star Macaulay Culkin is a father of two now, but it’s even harder to believe his kids don’t recognize him as a Christmas movie icon!
"They have no idea that I’m Kevin,” he said during his "A Nostalgic Night with Macaulay Culkin" tour at the Long Beach Terrace Theater over the weekend.
He added, “They’re only three and four years old, [I want] to keep up that illusion as long as possible.”
Macaulay shares Dakota, four, and Carson three, with fiancé Brenda Song.
Dakota is apparently close to figuring it out his dad played the lead role in the 1990 holiday classic.
Macaulay showed his son an old family photo of his seven siblings, and he remembered Dakota, "immediately looks at me and goes, ‘That kid looks like Kevin.'"
But there’s another catch: Dakota thinks he is Kevin.
Macaulay told his son about memorable scenes from the movie and asked, "'Do you remember when you kicked burglars out?’ And he's like, ‘Yep.’ ‘You slide down the stairs?’ ‘I sure do.’ I was like, ‘You liar! That was me.'"
The actor loves sharing the movie with his kids, saying, "Yeah, I do really love watching that movie with my boys."
Macaulay reprised his iconic character in the “Home But Not Alone” campaign for Home Instead, a firm that offers in-home care for older adults.
The ad - which honors the original movie's 35th anniversary - sees Kevin protect his mom, Kate McCallister (Catherine O'Hara), from potential dangers in their home.
