Nicolas Cage’s son addresses 'misconception' about his life following alleged assault case
Nicolas Cage’s son, Weston Coppola Cage, is speaking out following his alleged assault on his mother last year.
At the Future of Film Association's OPTIX Film Series in Las Vegas on Friday, Weston told The Daily Mail how he’s handled media attention following his arrest.
“I've definitely been a target for a lot of misconception my whole life, but I know that only happens to people that are intimidated by the calling of [it].”
Weston was arrested for assault in July 2024 after he allegedly attacked his mother, Christina Fulton.
He pleaded not guilty and was sentenced to a mental health diversion program for two years after a judge ruled he suffered from “a breakdown,” per The New York Post.
The 34-year-old also spoke with The Daily Mail about his upcoming documentary, titled “The Beast of God.”
“I have a documentary in the works that'll tell my childhood story and it'll keep Xanax in business for sure for the people that watch it,” Weston said.
He continued, “I'm going to do a combination of biopic reenactments and then also just some one on one interviews with me and kind of how I've always stayed up on the spiritual path and that's the only thing that's really ever worked for me.”
Weston married Jenifer Alexa Carter in May, with his father, Nicolas Cage, in attendance. Carter was not there for the wedding.
'It's been absolutely wonderful. Definitely some true alignment had to happen for me, you know, and a lot of spiritual awakenings and things like that,” said of his status as a newlywed.
He added, “I just found that I was surrounded with a lot of people in my life that need to be eliminated. And once that happens, it's better than eliminating other things like bad habits, but it allows the universe to pour everything you're meant for into it.”
Weston is the eldest of Cage’s three children. The “National Treasure” star also has a son, Kal-El, from his third wife, Alice Kim, and a daughter, August, from his current wife, Riko Shibata.
