Ozzy Osbourne performs final concert with Black Sabbath in their hometown
Ozzy Osbourne returned to his roots one last time for a rocking performance with Black Sabbath.
On Saturday, the rocker and joined his original band on stage at England’s Villa Park in Birmingham, where they first formed.
The show was called “Back to the Beginning” and featured some of their greatest hits like “War Pigs,” “N.I.B.,” “Iron Man” and “Paranoid,” according to People Magazine.
Osbourne also performed some solo numbers like “Mama, I’m Coming Home” and “Crazy Train.”
Special guests also joined the line up, including fellow rock icons Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, and more.
The show marked Black Sabbath’s first performance since their “The End” tour in 2017, which also held its last show in Birmingham.
Saturday’s performance was a significant moment for Osbourne, who has been struggling with Parkinson’s disease. He was diagnosed in 2019 and has endured other health issues over the past few years, including a fall that aggravated an old spinal injury, requiring multiple surgeries.
On his SiriusXM show “Ozzy Speaks,” the 76-year-old was determined to make it a great show, though he hasn’t “done any physical work for the last seven [or so] years.”
“By hook or by crook, I’m gonna make it there," he said. "I’ve got this trainer guy who helps people get back to normal. It’s hard going, but he’s convinced that he can pull it off for me. I’m giving it everything I’ve got.”
In 2023, Osbourne announced he was retiring from touring, explaining he was no longer "physically capable" of traveling as much as his tour schedule demanded.
When it came to the farewell performance, Osbourne told Billboard earlier this year he wouldn’t do a full set with the band, saying, "I am doing what I can, where I feel comfortable."
