Pauly Shore shares emotional update after pancreatic tumor scare

Comedian Pauly Shore had a major health scare recently.
The comedian revealed on Instagram that he got a full body scan a few months ago that revealed a tumor inside his pancreas.
The tumor was benign but might have been in his body for 15 to 20 years. “It wasn’t an emergency, but my doctor felt removing it was the right thing to do,” he wrote.
But the experience understandably terrified the 57-year-old.
“I’ve always been on top of my health. Going to the gym, using saunas, massages, having my teeth checked, doing blood work, colonoscopies, chiropractor, etc., but I had never done a full-body scan. I had no symptoms. This was just me following my instincts,” he wrote.
Shore completed his surgery last week and thanked the doctors and nurses at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles.
He added when he woke up, he learned he needed a less intense procedure, saying, “I still have my whole pancreas. I stayed one night in the hospital and then three nights at home with pain medication.”
The “Encino Man” star hopes his story can help others and remind them to take care of themselves as best they can.
“Maybe I can help save someone’s life by encouraging them to get a preventative scan, or even just going to the doctor and talking about prevention. And maybe they can save someone else’s life too. You want to find it before it finds you.”
