Pedro Pascal and the 'Fantastic Four' cast step out on the blue carpet for London premiere
The “Fantastic Four: First Steps” cast lived up to their name on the blue carpet during the film’s premiere in London on Thursday.
Pedro Pascal, who plays Dr. Reed Richards, aka Mister Fantastic in the film, wore a black jacket with a black dotted pattern, giving the look a cool texture. He accessorized with sunglasses and a light blue scarf, matching the movie’s color scheme.
On the carpet, he admitted he was a little nervous to join the Marvel movie universe, saying, "Well, I think that sometimes the outside will find you no matter how much you try to protect yourself from it, and it just comes with the territory. I think maybe my nerves were bigger than they usually are, and so I think I just was a little bit more sensitive to the love that people have for stories like this. Because I know that they wouldn't exist if it weren't for the love that people have for these characters. And I think that it's just very important for me that expectations be fulfilled.
He continued, “But I also know that the only way to do that is to give it all my focus and all my heart and my body and my soul. And so that was the best I could do."
Vanessa Kirby may play Sue Storm, aka the Invisible Woman, on screen, but she could clearly be seen rocking a beaded blue dress that looked almost feathery.
Plus, she had the best accessory—a baby bump! (Though the dress kind of obscures it we’ll admit).
In the movie, Sue is pregnant and not long after finishing filming, Kirby became pregnant with her first child with her partner, Paul Rabil.
"Occasionally I would put like heavy weights in the pregnancy belly just to really make me feel like I wasn't walking around with a foam thing and I've played pregnant characters before, so. Yeah, quite surreal really, really surreal, mostly surreal,” she said of playing a pregnant character.
"Clearly my body must have got the message, yeah,” she joked of playing a pregnant character.
“The Bear” star Ebon Moss-Bachrach wore a classic black suit and white shirt, but skipped the tie. The Emmy-winner plays Ben Grimm, better known as “The Thing,” due to his rocky exterior.
When it comes to playing a character requiring a lot of special effects and motion capture, Moss-Bachrach said, "I want to do the thing that's going to serve the story the most and serve the character the most. And certainly the performance capture was a way that I could maintain his humanity and imbue him with the most amount of myself and capture subtlety and not get kind of buried or obscured. I'm really interested in the man inside and certainly this was the way to go."
Rounding out Marvel’s first family is Joseph Quinn, who plays Johnny Stom, brother to Sue Storm with the superhero alias The Human Torch.
The “Stranger Things” season four breakout star wore a bright blue shit and blue shirt to match the movie’s aesthetic.
"There's some amazing people in the cast. It's pretty starry,” Quinn said of his co-stars.” There's a lot of big hitters and they're all very kind, very lovely.”
“Ozark” star Julia Garner donned a silvery gown for her blue carpet appearance, a nod to her character, the mysterious Silver Surfer.
"It's going to look really cool on screen. It was one thing to film with all the wires and everything, but I'm just so excited for everybody to see it. I'm so excited to see it. So it's going be really, really exciting,” she said.
“Fantastic Four: First Steps” is in theaters July 25.
