Pete Davidson says 'SNL 50' star-studded audience was 'terrible' but loved this one star
“SNL” alum Pete Davidson was not impressed with the star-studded crowd at the show’s 50th anniversary special.
While appearing on “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” fellow “SNL” alum Meyers asked about Davidson's experience at the show, and if it was tougher being in a live sketch or watching a pre-taped sketch he was in with the audience.
“As you know from ‘SNL 40,’ terrible audience,” Davidson quipped. "It's a terrible audience 'cause it's just famous people, and famous people only like themselves."
When the crowd sounded surprised, Davidson assured them, "It's true! I'm guilty of this!”
Davidson did have a primo seat next to the one and only Meryl Streep, much to his surprise.
"Meryl rules," he said. "In typical ‘SNL’ fashion, they don't tell you anything. You don't even know what's going on. I get to my seat and I just look and I'm like, 'This can't be right.'"
He joked that when he sat down next to the Oscar-winner, he said, "'I'm so sorry that I'm sitting next to you. You're the best.' And she was very nice!”
