'Possessed' Annabelle doll tour will continue following paranormal investigator's death

Paranormal investigator Dan Rivera died suddenly while on tour with the real-life Annabelle doll that inspired the horror movie franchise.
Rivera was a senior lead investigator with the New England Society for Psychic Research and was visiting Gettysburg, Pa., as part of the “Devils on the Run” tour featuring the supposedly haunted doll.
According to Adams County dispatch records obtained by the Evening Sun, emergency crews responded to a Gettysburg hotel on Sunday and administered CPR to a man of Rivera’s age, 54.
The New England Society for Psychic Research (NESPR) confirmed Rivera’s death in a Facebook post on Monday.
“It’s with deep sadness that Tony, Wade, and I share the sudden passing of our close friend and partner, Dan Rivera. We are heartbroken and still processing this loss. Dan truly believed in sharing his experiences and educating people on the paranormal. His kindness and passion touched everyone who knew him. Thank you for your support and kind thoughts during this difficult time,” the statement read.
The cause of Rivera’s death has not been disclosed.
The “Devils on the Run” tour is scheduled to continue, with NESPR saying in a statement to TMZ that they "do not know what the future of NESPR will look like without Dan, we do plan to move forward with the events previously scheduled for this year."
They added, "We believe with all our hearts that Dan would have wanted the work to continue -- bringing people together, sharing knowledge, and honoring the memory of Ed & Lorraine Warren."
The Annabelle doll, actually a Raggedy Ann doll, was made famous by paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, who investigated the doll in the 1970s and kept it locked in their occult museum.
The Warrens were the inspiration for “The Conjuring” movies, starring Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson, and the spin off films featuring Annabelle, as well as “The Nun.”
Annabelle is scheduled to visit Maine at the Maine Paranormal & Horror Convention on September 6th and 7th.
