Haylie Duff returned to her Texas roots in 2021 with a move to Austin and naturally has a few favorite places to grab a bite with her family.

We spoke with Duff for our Hometown to Hollywood series, declaring “Austin has so many good restaurants!”

Here are the top three favorites for Duff, with a special shout out from her daughter!

UCHI

  • Named for the Japanese word meaning “house,” this sushi restaurant was founded by James Beard Award winning Chef Tyson Cole and offers, “A delicate balance of elevated food and impeccable service, Uchi offers non traditional Japanese cuisine with signature tastings, sushi, and a seasonal omakase,” according to their website.

LORO

  • “It’s like a fusion barbecue meets like Korean food, it’s amazing, it’s really good,” Duff said, which is how the restaurant pretty much describes itself. “Asian smokehouse meets Texas barbecue. With a menu you won’t find anywhere else and plenty of seating, Loro will be your new favorite place in Austin,” their website promises. Loro was also founded by Tyson Cole, the chef behind Uchi.

MAPLE STREET BISCUIT COMPANY

  • Duff revealed her daughter Ryan is a fan of this breakfast spot. “If you’re asking her, she’s going to say Maple Street, she has a sweet tooth, she wants pancakes every day!” she said. Maple Street Biscuit Company offers a “quirky take on comfort food.”

Duff, shares daughters Ryan and Lulu with her husband, Matt Rosenberg, and made the move to Austin four years ago.

She told Fox News Digital in 2022, "Texas is my home state. And so, I always imagined that I would come back to Texas and raise our family here and things like that.”

The 40-year-old hasn’t completely left Hollywood behind, and her latest project is helping spread the word on a rare but important health concern for teens.

“When I first read this script, it was something that really resonated with me because I am a mom of two daughters, and so I related to it right away,” Duff said.

She added, “I loved the character of Julie, I think she was a really inspiring, powerful example of what modern motherhood looks like. So, I was honored that they asked me to play her and participate in this film.”

“Pretty Hurts” stars Duff as mom Julie, whose daughter enters a beauty pageant when a case of meningitis hits close to home.

The film, airing on Lifetime, aims to spread awareness about meningitis, also known as meningococcal disease, partnering with GSK's Ask2BSure campaign, which encourages parents of teens and young adults ages 16-23 to start a conversation with their teen’s doctor about meningitis and vaccination.

“I just love that this was not only a relatable story but it wove a public health message seamlessly throughout it without shoving it in your face in this really effortless, natural way.”
