Prince Harry reunites with King Charles III after more than 19 months apart
Prince Harry visited his father, King Charles III, for the first time in over 19 months.
The Duke of Sussex arrived at the monarch’s residence, Clarence House, on Wednesday for a “private tea,” per The New York Post.
The meeting lasted nearly an hour, and the outlet reported that Prince Harry told a royal watcher King Charles is “great, thank you” following the meeting.
A representative for Prince Harry told The New York Post, “He’s obviously loved being back in the UK, catching up with old friends, colleagues, and just generally being able to support the incredible work of the causes that mean so much to him.”
The New York Post reported that Prince William was not in attendance for the private meeting.
Prince Harry has been in the U.K. several times over the past two years dealing with his court case over taxpayer-funded security, but according to the outlet, King Charles felt uncomfortable seeing his son during that period.
He last saw King Charles III in person in February 2024, when he flew from California to England after his father was diagnosed with cancer.
The relationship between father and son has been strained since the debut of Prince Harry’s memoir, “Spare,” in 2023.
Earlier this year in an interview with the BBC, Prince Harry said King Charles “won’t speak to me because of this security stuff” but hoped for a reconciliation.
“Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has,” he said.
Prince Harry has been making other stops during his time in the U.K. as well, beginning Monday with an appearance at the WellChild Awards, a visit to the Community Recording Studio on Tuesday, where he made a personal donation of 1.1 million to the BBC’s Children in Need.
After his meeting with King Charles, he rushed to an Invictus Games event in central London.
