Reba McEntire posts tribute to former stepson Brandon Blackstock: 'His struggle is over'

Reba McEntire shared a heartfelt tribute to Brandon Blackstock, her late former stepson.
“Last week, my stepson/oldest son Brandon Blackstock went home to be with God,” McEntire wrote, alongside throwback photos with Blackstock.
She continued, “His struggle is over and he is in eternal peace in God’s presence. There is no one else like him, and I’m thankful for the time we had together. His legacy and laughter will be carried on through his family. Rest in peace cowboy. Happy trails to you til we meet again.”
McEntire was married to Blackstock’s father, Narvel Blackstock, from 1989 to 2015, and was identified as his stepmother in his obituary. She and Narvel share a son, Shelby, as well as Narvel’s three children, Brandon, Chassidy and Shawna, from his previous marriage to Melissa Ashworth.
Blackstock died last week at age 48 from melanoma.
"It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away," a representative said in a statement to People Magazine. "Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time."
Blackstock was previously married to singer Kelly Clarkson, from 2013 to 2022.
The couple share two children, River and Remington. He was also a father to two children from a previous marriage, Savannah and Seth. He became a grandfather in 2022 when his eldest, Savannah, gave birth to a son, Lake.
