Rebel Wilson on her wedding day mishaps, daughter Royce’s big milestone
After seeing photos from Rebel Wilson’s Italian wedding, you would think it was a “pitch-perfect” day. And as her first anniversary approaches, Wilson tells us the behind-the-scenes details from her fairytale wedding to wife, Ramona Agurm, including what didn’t go as planned.
“What went wrong was that we practiced having these songs for when we read our vows, and we'd given them [the musical director] the songs. Then I start to do my vows, and then it was a completely different song,” Wilson,45, laughed. “I guess because it's the professional actress in me, I register it's not the right song, but I just went with it.”
The ‘Pitch Perfect’ star, known for her musical role as Fat Amy, adds that another unexpected mishap involved Mother Nature. She admits it was a challenge to get the right photos for their Vogue feature because there were “incredible wind gusts.”
“The wedding was getting photographed, which you can't quite tell in the photos. My hair just looks very windswept,” Wilson said.
Despite a couple of issues, Wilson remembers her wedding being a dream come true after meeting her wife through a mutual friend over text message in November 2021. Not long after getting engaged at Disneyland months later, Rebel and Ramona welcomed their daughter, Royce Lillian, via surrogate in November 2022. She recalls her now two-year-old struggling with the wind, too.
“My poor baby was getting freezing cold. We had to get a jacket for her. But everything else went amazing. Like, the food was amazing, the fireworks, the photographs were beautiful.”
Outside of finding her forever, the couple has been in the thick of it with parenting their Bluey-obsessed toddler. The Aussie native revealed their little girl recently hit a big milestone. Royce is enrolled in preschool, giving the moms much-needed adult time.
“She has her little backpack, this Bluey backpack that she has. She loves that show, and she has a little school uniform. And it's so adorable,” Wilson said.
Wilson continues, “That’s a big step. It's also great for the mums, because suddenly you have a bit of free time. Ramona and I dropped her off at school for the first day, and then we're like, should we go to a cafe? Like, what should we do? We had some spare time.”
Wilson co-stars alongside Anna Camp in ‘Bride Hard.’ In the film, hitting theaters June 20th, Camp plays a bride whose wedding goes awry while Wilson stars as her maid of honor, who also happens to be a secret agent who kicks-butt along the way.
