Review: Those looking for a traditional romantic comedy with a blockbuster production budget and cast will find “Marry Me” to be the perfect date-night cinema for Valentine’s Day. That’s both a compliment and something of a warning in that for all the glitter and glamour there’s nothing particularly new to be found in “Marry Me.” Well, there are a handful of potential hits from Lopez who, as you might expect, sings, and dances her way through most of the film while Wilson sticks to the awkward-everyman performance that he has perfected. Both are perfectly affable and co-stars John Bradley and Sarah Silverman add an element of comedic respite to the sugary romance. However, it is Chloe Coleman, who plays Wilson’s daughter, who grounds the film as its most realistic and vulnerable character.

It’s still not remotely realistic. It’s not intended to be. “Marry Me” is pure escapism. A feel-good film for the masses who probably haven’t felt good about much in the last 24 months. Go and enjoy. Reality can wait.
