Exclusive: Rihanna reveals Fenty Kids progress, why A$AP Rocky inspired RZA & Riot’s style
A pregnant Rihanna looked gorgeous as she stepped onto the blue carpet at the 'Smurfs' premiere in Los Angeles with her two adorable sons, RZA, 3 and Riot, 1, as they made their red carpet debut together.
The proud mama exclusively told our entertainment reporter Courtney Tezeno, she is ready to get her Fenty Kids line into production and her growing family is her biggest inspiration.
The “Friend of Mine” singer, who is pregnant with her third child, was all smiles in a chocolate brown gown and leather jacket next to her adorable boys rocking stylish ensembles that looked fresh off the runway. Between RZA's stylish tie and oversized cargos and Riot's tiny blazer, it was cuteness overload seeing the siblings coordinate with mom and get the chance to meet Papa Smurf.
She exclusively revealed where she stands with her kids' clothing collection, which the Fenty founder filed a trademark for in 2023.
“I have not started working on anything like that yet,” Rihanna said. “What a joy it would be to do! The closest I’ve got to that is sneakers with Puma. Shrinking all the cool sneakers that we get to make for kids, but I would love to.”
Rihanna continued teasing what she envisions as the designer for Fenty Kids clothing.
“I feel like I would have so much fun designing for kids. Everything miniature makes me excited, which is why I even did Smurfs because they’re so tiny and cute and there’s tons of them.”
While the actress, who plays Smurfette in the in the animated/live-action musical reboot, has her cute toddlers to model for the brand, it’s their dad A$AP Rocky that inspires her when it comes to styling her little boys.
“My cheat code is I shrink Rocky’s clothes. Like what would Rocky do and just shrink it,” Rihanna said. “You always envision how you’re going to dress like girls. But then you get boys and you’re like ‘what do I do here?’ that’s not like basic. How do I have fun with this? I looked at Rocky one day, and I was like 'That’s what I’m going to do.'”
The beauty mogul also told us how playing “Smurfette” felt like a surreal opportunity.
"It's not a dream that I even had. I never thought it would be possible, like, playing Smurfette," Rihanna said.
"As little girls, if you are a fan of the Smurfs, you always wanted to be Smurfette. So having the opportunity to play her and bring my own thing to the character — a big deal, a lot of pressure, and super, super exciting."
Earlier this year, Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, hinted that the gender of their upcoming bundle of joy might be a girl or “smurfette.” They also confirmed baby number three would be an “R” name, following the family tradition.
“Smurfs” hits theaters July 18.
