'Scrubs' reboot: everything you need to know
"Scrubs" is getting a reboot!
The hit medical comedy aired for 9 seasons between 2001-2010 and featured actors Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke and Donald Faison.
The three original stars have confirmed they will be back for the reboot and they’ve all already posted about the new show on their Instagram accounts. The trio played young doctors learning together at Sacred Heart Hospital.
The official log line for the show says, “JD (Braff) & Turk (Faison) scrub in together for the first time in a long time- medicine has changed, interns have changed, but their bromance has stood the test of time. Characters new and old navigate the waters of Sacred Heart with laughter, heart and some surprises along the way," per Variety.
Braff, who played J.D. Dorian, posted a rendition of him singing the “Scrubs” theme song on his Instagram stories, but changed the lyrics to: “I can’t do this all on my own. I need Sarah Chalke and Donald Faison.”
Faison and Chalke, for their part, posted throwback photos of the three of them together.
The new series is anticipated to be released in time for the 2025-2026 season and has its original creator and executive producer, Bill Lawrence, attached according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Lawence has often talked about rebooting the show. Since he’s gone on to co-create “Ted Lasso,” “Bad Monkey,” and “Shrinking.”
According to Variety, other original cast members are expected to return as well, but no official word yet. But we're hoping that includes John C. McGinley as the cranky Dr. Cox, J.D.'s mentor, Ken Jenkins as chief of medicine Dr. Kelso, Judy Reyes as Nurse Carla (also Turk's eventual wife), and J.D.'s nemesis, Janitor (Neil Flynn).
