Selena Gomez is opening up about her friendship with Taylor Swift and how a breakup with a Jonas Brother led to their lifelong friendship.

The “Only Murders in the Building” star was on the "Therapuss with Jake Shane" podcast, where she revealed she and the “Lavender Haze” singer became close through their famous ex-boyfriends over a decade ago.

Gomez famously dated Nick Jonas while Swift was seeing his older brother, Joe. “It was cute. We were young. We all know and love each other now and it’s so cute. We don’t know what we were doing. She and I like to say the best thing we got out of those relationships was each other because it was really sweet,” she tells Shane.

“So, at that age, we became best friends, bonded over the breakup. As girls do, then I don’t know and then we just stuck around for all the ups and downs that came after and here we are now 16 years later,” she concludes.

The “Wizards of Waverly Place” alum also shared the moment Swift played one of her biggest hits for her, before it was released!

“She was like, ‘OK, I just want to play you this song, but like like, you know, I don’t know. It’s going to be the first single, I think, I think,’” Gomez recalls before Swift played the song.

“I was about 15, she was about 18, and that’s when it was the crazy curly Taylor, and she had all these bracelets that went all the way up. I believe ‘Love Story’ was the first song she ever played me, and it wasn’t released yet,” she said about Swift’s 2008 country pop hit.

“Just hearing her say those little thoughts and just listening to it. Yeah, she’s a chameleon. She’s incredible,” Gomez gushed.

“Yeah, I was in a hotel room and I remember it vividly, it was one of those songs I instantly heard and thought this is one of the most beautiful songs ever.”

And she was right! After reading this, we can’t get “Love Story” out of our heads!
