We will let you be the judge of Shaboozey’s side eye glance -- he looks perplexed to us!

Did someone bamboozle Shaboozey? In a now-viral clip, Shaboozey couldn’t contain his reaction to who invented country music, and now we know why. At the American Music Awards on Monday, the country singer gave a side-eye to Megan Moroney while the pair was presenting the award for Favorite Country Duo or Group Award.

Moroney read off the teleprompter, "This award went to the Carter family, who basically invented country music," referring to A. P. Carter, Sara Dougherty Carter, and Maybelle Addington Carter, who are widely considered the first family in country music.

On Tuesday, Shaboozey took to X with a not-so-subtle message, writing “When you uncover the true history of country music, you find a story so powerful that it cannot be erased” He added, “The real history of country music is about people coming together despite their differences, and embracing and celebrating the things that make us alike.”

The 30-year-old, whose real name is Collins Obinna Chibueze, is featured on Beyonce’s record-breaking album, ‘Cowboy Carter’, collaborating on “Spaghetti” with Linda Martell. The album highlights black country artists and sheds light on the history of country music’s origins. Queen Bey won Favorite Country Album at the AMAs and Album of the Year at this year’s Grammys.

The ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ singer dedicated the GRAMMY win to Linda Martell, the first Black female country singer who worked with her on the record-breaking album. “I hope we just keep pushing forward – opening doors, “Beyonce said.
