Simone Biles has 'no shame' about getting boob job and other cosmetic surgeries
Olympian Simone Biles is opening up about getting a boob job and two other plastic surgeries.
"It's just who I am and I feel like I've always tried to be open, honest and relatable," she told People about her decision to speak out, adding that people should feel “no shame” for making those kinds of decisions.
The gold-medal winning gymnast initially teased on TikTok that she had undergone three plastic surgeries and asked her followers to guess what she had done, noting that two of the three wouldn’t be super noticeable.
She later confirmed with the outlet that she had a lower blepharoplasty to address her undereye bags. (A lower blepharoplasty reduces bagginess from the lower eyelids and eliminates excess skin from upper eyelids, according to the Cleveland Clinic.)
"I got a lower bleph because me and my family have, I call it the 'Biles eye bags,'" she explained. "We've just always had them, hereditary, and so that was just a big flaw. Every time I would go to a shoot, they're like, 'Oh, can we put some strips on her?'”
She added, "And I was like, 'Oh, baby, I had 12 hours last night, these aren't going away. These are just hereditary.’ So it's something that I wanted to fix."
The other less noticeable surgery she had done was on her ear “to get it fixed” after one of her earrings got “ripped out” when she was a child.
As for the breast implants, Biles admitted, "Okay, obviously you can notice the breasts. But other than that, it's just feeling good about yourself and loving yourself, and I've always been very vocal about that."
She continued, "And not that I didn't like the way I looked or the way I felt. It's just something that I notice obviously a little bit more because I live in this body, I'm just so used to it."
Biles’ goal is not to make anyone insecure, but inspire others with her honesty.
"I also think it shows young girls that they have the right to their own choices, whatever they are, and that's no shame added as well. I feel like nowadays with social media, you see everyone and you're like, 'Oh my God, how does she look so good?'” she said.
She added, "Social media is not real, so that's why I try to be as transparent as possible," referring to her admission she had Botox on her 27th birthday and not liking the results.
"As long as you love yourself, that's really all that matters,” Biles concluded.
