Celine Dion slams Trump campaign for 'unauthorized' use of music at rally

WASHINGTON (TND) — Singing icon Celine Dion issued a statement Saturday criticizing former President Donald Trump's campaign for playing an "unauthorized" song at a recent rally.

The Trump campaign played Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" at a Trump and Vance rally in Bozeman, Montana on Friday, according to her statement.

"Today, Celine Dion’s management team and her record label, Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc., became aware of the unauthorized usage of the video, recording, musical performance, and likeness of Celine Dion singing ‘My Heart Will Go On’ at a Donald Trump / JD Vance campaign rally in Montana," Dion said in the statement posted on X and Instagram.

The singer seemingly poked fun at the song choice by saying, "Really, THAT song?"

"My Heart Will Go On" served as the theme song to James Cameron's 1997 film "Titanic."

Other musicians who previously objected to Trump's campaign using their music include the estate ofSinéad O'Connor, Phil Collins,Brendon Urie of Panic! At The Disco, Elton John and Neil Young.

Nearly two years after revealingher stiff person syndrome diagnosis, Dion had a comeback performance at the Eiffel Tower during the opening ceremony for the Paris Olympics.

She sang Edith Piaf's "Hymne à l’amour" ("Hymn to Love") as the finale of the event.
