Stephen Colbert is using his sick time and will not appear on "The Late Show" this week after suffering from a ruptured appendix.

Colbert announced the news on Threads Monday that he is recovering after surgery.

"Sorry to say that I have to cancel our shows this week. I’m sure you’re thinking, “Turkey overdose, Steve? Gravy boat capsize?” Actually, I’m recovering from surgery for a ruptured appendix," he wrote on the social media platform.

He added that he is "grateful" for his doctor's care and for his wife Evie and their kids for "putting up" with him.

"Going forward, all emails to my appendix will be handled by my pancreas," he joked.

Starting Tuesday, Colbert had a busy week planned with guests including Jennifer Garner, Baz Luhrmann, Patrick Stewart and Kelsey Grammar.

In October, Colbert was forced to cancel a week's worth of shows after testing positive for COVID-19.

The comedian posted the news on X with a photo.
