Sydney Sweeney is reportedly a registered Republican, receives praise from President Trump

Sydney Sweeney’s jeans may be blue, but according to voting records, she votes red.

The “Euphoria” star is a registered Republican voter in Florida, according to public voting records obtained by TMZ.

While Sweeney was born in Spokane, Washington, and lived in Idaho and Oregon before relocating to California as a teenager, she reportedly owns a home in Florida as of June 2024.

President Donald Trump praised Sweeney’s reported political affiliation.

"She's a registered Republican?" Trump said in response to a reporter's question about her. "Oh, now I love her ad.”

He continued, "You'd be surprised at how many people are Republicans. That's what I wouldn't have known, but I'm glad you told me that. If Sydney Sweeney is a registered Republican, I think her ad is fantastic.”

Trump was of course referring to Sweeney’s now controversial American Eagle denim ad, with the tagline, "Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans."

The reaction online was mixed, with some feeling the ad promoted eugenics and Nazi propaganda.

American Eagle responded to the controversy in an Instagram post last week.

“'Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans’ is and always was about the jeans,” the statement read. “We’ll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way. Great jeans look good on everyone.”

Senator Ted Cruz also defended Sweeney’s ad, writing on X, “Wow. "Now the crazy Left has come out against beautiful women. I’m sure that will poll well."

Sweeney has not publicly commented on the ad or the controversy that followed.
