'The Beatles' shares first look at the stars playing John, Paul, George, and Ringo
The four-movie epic biopic about The Beatles has unveiled our first look at the actors playing the Fab Four.
“Hamnet” star Paul Mescal portrays Paul McCartney, shown in close up at what appears to be the Cavern Club from the band’s early days.
Barry Keoghan sports a classic 1960s mop-top as Ringo Starr, seated by a microphone in the studio.
Harris Dickinson, of “Babygirl” fame, plays John Lennon, shown with longer, shaggier hair, a signature of the band’s later era.
And Joseph Quinn plays George Harrison, also shown with the longer “hippie” hair associated with the band’s final years.
The images were first unveiled on postcards distributed Thursday at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, a school founded by Paul McCartney. They were also given out at other key locations from The Beatles’ lives and careers, including John Lennon’s childhood home, the Cavern Club in Hamburg, Germany, and Strawberry Fields in Central Park.
All four films are being directed by Sam Mendes and will be told from the perspective of a different Beatle. According to Variety, this is the first time that The Beatles and their descendants have granted music and life rights for a theatrical film about them.
“I’m honored to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time, and excited to challenge the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies,” Mendes said in a statement when the films were first announced.
The four “Beatles” films will be released in 2028.
