The first 'Avengers: Doomsday' trailer confirms a major character’s return

The leaks were true, Captain America is coming back to the MCU!
The first official trailer for “Avengers: Doomsday” dropped Tuesday morning, confirming the return of Chris Evans as Captain America.
The trailer is really simple, showing pretty shots of a man, later revealed to be Steve Rogers (aka Captain America) returning to an idyllic farmhouse.
He briefly pulls his old Captain America suit out of a drawer, but the bigger surprise is Steve holding a sweet little baby looking like a proud papa.
Then we get a soft version of the “Avengers” theme with the promise, “Steve Rogers will return in ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’”
News of Evans’ return to the MCU was leaked after the trailer was briefly shown in theaters before “Avatar: Fire & Ash.”
Evans had previously claimed Steve Rogers wouldn’t be back on screen, even telling Esquire this year he was “happily retired” from the role.
The plot is going to be a massive mashup of characters, combining the “New Avengers” from this year’s film, plus a team brought together by Anthony Mackie’s Captain America (Sam Wilson), as well as a multiverse’s worth of characters, including the original film version of the X-Men and the current Fantastic Four lineup.
All those people will be facing off with Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. His arrival was teased at the end of this summer’s “Fantastic Four: First Steps,” in a post-credits sequence, but his face was never shown.
“Avengers: Doomsday” will be in theaters December 18, 2026.
