This contestant on 'Jeopardy!' just broke the record single day cash winnings

WASHINGTON (SBG) --James Holzhauer is causing a stir among "Jeopardy" fans after breaking the record for single day cash winnings on the show with $110,914. The last time this record was broken, the amount totaled to $77,000, Decider reports.

Holzhauer, who also happens to be a professional sports gambler, wagered $38,000 during a Final Jeopardy question about physics. TVLine reports the earnings number is especially significant because his daughter was born on November 9th, 2014 (11/09/14).

The contestant has already won four times and will compete in Wednesday's episode having won a total sum of $244,365.

"Is it too soon to start thinking about Ken Jennings comparisons," host Alex Trebek asked towards the end of Tuesday night's episode.
