Netflix's 'Tiger King’ star sentenced to prison, ordered to give up chimps

Known for his role in Netflix’s ‘Tiger King’ documentary, Doc Antle just received a 12-month prison sentence.
Doc Antle from ‘Tiger King’ just got a 12-month prison sentence after pleading guilty in a case involving money laundering and illegal wildlife dealings, according to TMZ.
The Myrtle Beach Safari owner admitted to laundering more than $500K in what he believed was a human smuggling operation along with violating the Lacey Act which bans all illegal wildlife trafficking.
Along with his 12-month prison stay, he was also ordered to pay a $55K fine, give up three of his chimps, nearly $200K in assets along with serving three years of supervised release following his 12-month sentence.
This all started back in 2022 when the feds took Doc in for allegedly running a years-long wildlife trafficking scheme.
Carole Baskin’s husband, Howard had some thoughts on Doc’s sentence, “While we would certainly have preferred a longer sentence, having him spend at least some time locked in a cage and experiencing at least some degree of what he has subjected his animals to for over 40 years is a major victory in our opinion for law-enforcement and for animal welfare. Hopefully continued scrutiny will eventually lead to the closing of his operation and the end to his mistreatment of so many animals,” his statement to TMZ reads.
