Tom Hanks and wife, Rita Wilson, test positive for coronavirus

WASHINGTON (SBG) --Tom Hanks says he and his wife, actress-singerRita Wilson, have tested positive for coronavirus, in a statement shared via Twitter Wednesday night.

According to Hanks' post, he and Wilson, both 63 years old, were in Australia when they "felt a bit tired," with cold hands and body aches. Hanks said they wanted to "play things right," so they were tested for coronavirus. The results came back positive.

The couple, who have been married since 1988, said they will keep "the world posted and updated." In 2013, Hanks revealed that he has type 2 diabetes. He signed off on his message, saying, "Take care of yourselves!"

Hanks was in Australia shooting an untitled Elvis Presley biopic. Hanks plays Presley's manager, Colonel Tom Parker. The film, currently set to be released in October 2021, has suspended production, Warner Bros. told The Associated Press.

The vast majority of people recover from the new virus,The Associated Press reports. According to the World Health Organization, people with a mild version of the illness recover in about two weeks, while those with more severe illness may take three to six weeks to recover.
