Uber and Paramount offering teens free rides to 'Mean Girls' movie this weekend

SOUTH CAROLINA (WCIV) — Rideshare company Uber as well as Paramount Studios are offering teenagers a free ride this weekend to see the upcoming "Mean Girls" movie releasing Friday, Jan. 12.

From Friday, Jan. 12 to Monday, Jan. 15, Uber is offering two free rides up to $15 for new Uber teen account riders across the country to go see the movie.

The film is a musical remake of the 2004 box office smash. The original film grossed over $130 million, according to its IMDB page.

Creating a teen account is the only way for teens aged 13-17 to use Uber. Accounts must be created with a parent or legal guardian, according to Uber's website.

Teen accounts also provide live safety features and allows parents to track the rides from pickup to drop off at the theater, a release states.

The new "Mean Girls" movie was written by Tina Fey, who co-wrote the original film. It starsAngourie Rice, Jon Hamm,Jenna Fischer, Tina Fey, and more.

The special promotion is available in all markets except California.
