'Welcome to Plathville’ premiere: Engagements, fights and confrontations for season 7
*Spoiler Alert: If you haven't watched tonight's episode read at your own risk*
“Welcome to Plathville” is back with Season 7, and the Plath’s are taking on a lot this summer!
For some members of the family, love is in the air while others are forced to make difficult life-changing decision about their future.
In tonight's premiere of the TLC reality show, Lydia hopes to get engaged to her new boyfriend, even though they’ve only been dating for four months. This raises some eyebrows with Lydia’s siblings. The 21-year-old daughter of Kim and Barry Plath isn’t listening to those who doubt her, she says she’s ready for marriage.
Apparently her boyfriend is too. Zac, who said he is waiting for their first kiss on their wedding day, amongst other “firsts,” has a nerve-wracking conversation with Barry to ask for Lydia’s hand in marriage. We see the entire awkward conversation along with Barry’s answer to whether his daughter can marry in the season seven premiere.
As for the Plath sons, Isaac, 19, is in a new relationship and Ethan, 27, is dealing with the aftermath of his dramatic divorce from ex-wife Olivia.
In one clip from the show, Ethan confirms ending the relationship was the right choice, saying, “Out of the blue, I found the one the second time around. The absence of drama is amazing. In no situation would I ever want any of that back.”
But, their sister Moriah made a life altering move after stepping back from the family, which included ended her friendship with brother Micah’s girlfriend, Veronica. While tensions are growing between Veronica and the Plaths, it’s putting a wedge between her and Micah, 24, and they just can’t seem to get on the same page.
“Veronica thinks that my family was out to get her, and Olivia thought the same thing,” Ethan says in his confessional, “I’m going to be honest, I don’t know if I want to be part of the family.”
The dramatic season premiere ends with Veronica facetiming Olivia, Ethan’s ex-wife, to discuss all of the happenings in the family to which we hear, an ominous phrase from Olivia, “I should have warned you.”
Season 7 of ‘Welcome to Plathville’ premieres Tuesday, July 22 at 10 pm ET on TLC.
