LOS ANGELES (TNND) — Jillian Shriner, an author and wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder Tuesday after being involved in a situation with police that resulted in her being shot by officers with the Los Angeles Police Department.
The LAPD said the incident occurred when officers were attempting to track a suspect of an unrelated hit-and-run, ended up in the rear yard of a home on Waldo Place and observed a woman in the neighboring yard armed with a handgun.
“The officers ordered Shriner to drop the handgun numerous times; however, she refused. Shriner then pointed the handgun at the officers, and an Officer-Involved Shooting occurred,” a news release read. "Shriner was struck by gunfire and fled into her residence. She later exited and was taken into custody."
Police added that a 9-millimeter handgun was found at Shriner's home.
Booking records show Shriner was released Wednesday morning on a $1 million bond. She is due in court on April 30.
Video captured by KABC shows a woman, believed to be Shriner, being assisted by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics as she is put on a stretcher to get into an ambulance.
Shriner was taken to a local hospital where she was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
One of the suspects in the hit-and-run was detained by California Highway Patrol, while the other two suspects were not located, police added.
Lauren is the author of two bestselling memoirs, 2010's “Some Girls: My Life in a Harem” and 2015's “Everything You Ever Wanted.”
