A six-legged pup found in an abandoned supermarket parking lot in London will now live on four paws after a successful surgery.

Ariel is a cocker spaniel who was born with multiple birth defects including two vulvas, according to Langford Vets Small Animal Referral Hospital.

Greenacres Rescuetook her in in September and raised funds for her surgery.

"The procedure went very well, and Ariel took it all in her stride," the hospital said.

The extra legs extended from the right hindquarter and appeared to be of no use, dangling beside her wagging tail.

She was named for "The Little Mermaid" character due to her additional appendage with two paws on the end that looked like a flipper.

Langford Vets' hospital director Vicki Black told the BBC "Ariel was a complicated little dog whose care required close collaboration across a number of our specialist teams, including orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, anaesthesia and radiology.
