SARASOTA COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office in Florida had an eventful morning with a scaly friend.

"Imagine coming across this on your morning jog!" the department tweeted around 11:30 a.m.

Deputies responded to Cerromar Terr., Venice, to help a 6-foot alligator free himself from a storm drain.

"THX to deputies who lifted the concrete slab to help him break free," the tweet said.

A trapper was called, but did not respond so the alligator was released.
